About me…
I have been a practising artist for 30 years mainly specialising in hand painted linocut printmaking. I am self-taught and my work is completely original and handmade. I work in situ and can be often found in various places on the Fleurieu Peninsula (Hardy’s Scrub, the Onkaparinga Gorge; vineyards, farms, coastlines and scrublands), Hindmarsh Island and recently, Mintaro. I also love flowers and have a collection of Art Deco vases which often appear in my work.
My work is hand drawn straight onto the lino. This energises the process. Design is paramount to my style. When I’ve completed my first drawing, I then enhance the image with bolder details to create a balanced composition. While cutting I utilise varying techniques to display texture. This process takes the longest.
Each piece is individually hand printed and hand painted using acrylic. Editions are normally 20 pieces depending on size. I spray varnish to enhance the colours and protect the paper before framing.
I teach weekly classes at the Goolwa Community Centre and facilitate workshops throughout South Australia in lino cut printmaking and drawing. I enjoy creating individual commissions.
I am a resident artist at the Fleurieu Arthouse in Mclaren Vale, and the Magpie and Stump Hotel in Mintaro.
